Hundreds turned out to enjoy an evening of camaraderie, entertainment, food and beverages while aiding a great cause at the 7th annual Caselli MotoDoffo fundraiser, on June 12.
Held, once again, at the picturesque and moto-minded Doffo Winery in the rolling agricultural hills of Temecula Wine Country, the emphasis was on fun while supporting the Kurt Caselli Foundation’s mission of “Protecting and supporting the lives of off-road riders.”
To that end, auctions and raffles as well as sales of merchandise helped generate funds with tangible results of past fundraising efforts on display like the new CanAm UTV donated to MotoMedX in northern Nevada as well as a half-dozen scholarships awarded to off-road riders pursuing higher education. Those included Britanny Brooks, of California, Justin Ferrari, of California, Ashlee Gage, of Idaho, Grant Kawell, of California, Bobby Munroe, of Florida and Sarah (Whitmore) Smage, of Michigan.
Each receives $2500 to help fund their educational goals, which is something the Casellis have always emphasized. As Kurt’s mom, Nancy, said, “One common thread I noticed while going back over all our applicants: riding and racing a motorcycle provides teachable moments on how to navigate the trail of life.”
Live entertainment included the always impressive Red Bull-sponsored trials riding demonstration by 10-time champ Geoff Aaron of Extreme Riding Entertainment on his GasGas and performances throughout the evening by The Working Man Band.
The total amount raised had not yet been tallied, but a rough guesstimate based solely on attendance and winning auction bids would deem the amount significant.CN
