Sunday
WorldSBK Race Two
Turkish racing star Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team) became the fourth different race winner in nine WorldSBK races so far in 2021 after he caught and passed early leaders Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) and Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), then eased out his pace to keep a safe buffer to the early warring duo of Rinaldi and Rea as the laps ticked down from 21 to zero. Rinaldi would finish second.
With ambient air temperatures into the 30s and track temperature of almost 50C, it was hard work again for all the riders, but Razgatlioglu had more in his pocket than even double race winner Rinaldi, as he slashed Rea’s World Championship lead to 20 points, with Rea’s home round in the UK to come next.
Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was part of a strong top four but dropped off the pace towards the end, allowing Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team) to make some ground on him.
Redding would finish fourth, Lowes eventually sixth after the fast advancing Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha) earned a well-deserved top five finish by passing Lowes in the final laps.
Axel Bassani (MotoCorsa Racing Ducati) had another outstanding ride to seventh, passing no less a force than Alvaro Bautista (HRC Honda) into the fast Curvone right hander and fighting to keep his top seven finish to the flag.
With Bautista eighth, Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team) was ninth and Michael van der Mark (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team).
Chaz Davies (Team GoEleven Ducati) retired with a technical issue early in the race.
Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) was 11th and Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) 12th.
Rea now has 149 points, Razgatlioglu 129, Redding 104 and Lowes 88, just six ahead of Rinaldi.

Superpole Race
After 10 laps of the Sunday morning Superpole Race Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) continued his dominant pace from Race One on Saturday, winning from Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team) by 0.485 seconds. It was a clear victory, despite the narrow margin, just as Razgatlioglu was just enough better than third placed rider Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) to secure a finally safe second.
Rinaldi’s 1’34.356 lap on the second circuit was a new lap record.
Once again, in a repeat of the first day’s top five results, Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was fourth and Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team) fifth.
The Sunday morning joy for the locals was enhanced by a sixth place for privateer Axel Bassani (MotoCorsa Racing Ducati) who was 7.448 seconds from his countryman Rinaldi after ten laps, in track conditions that had already hit 30°C by 11am.
Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) was seventh, Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha) eighth and Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team) ninth. Those top nine finishing positions will the starting places for the final 21-lap Race Two this afternoon.
Tenth this morning was the top Honda rider, Alvaro Bautista (HRC Honda).
Eugene Laverty (RC Squadra Corse BMW), who had a huge crash on Saturday in practice, was declared fit today and finished a more than creditable 13th in the Superpole race. Chaz Davies (Team GoEleven Ducati) crashed out while Leon Haslam (HRC Honda) was 11th.

WorldSSP Race Two
Dominique Aegerter (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) won the final WorldSSP Race of the Misano weekend – but only after the winner ‘over the line’ Steven Odendaal (BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha) was docked time and finished down in fifth place. The South African did not take his long lap penalty for exceeding track limits, and was given a time penalty after the checkered flag that saw him not only down the order, but two places off the podium.
The whole race was run over only 12 laps, after a red flag incident and a stop-and-quick-restart after the track was cleaned because of a fluid spill.
Local lion Luca Bernardi (CM Racing Yamaha) took his second runner-up place in succession on Sunday, while Jules Cluzel (GMT94 Yamaha) completed the podium finishers after Odendaal’s official sanction.
Manuel Gonzalez (Yamaha ParkinGo Team) was on for a podium finish until he ran way off track and placed fifth over the finish line, but fourth in the final results.
With Odendaal fifth, Philipp Öttl (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) was top Kawasaki rider in sixth, with Raffaele De Rosa (Orelac Racing VerdNatura Kawasaki) seventh and Marc Alcoba (Yamaha MS Racing) eighth. Federico Caricasulo (GMT94 Yamaha) and Hannes Soomer (Kallio Racing Yamaha) rounded out the top ten.
In the championship, Aegerter has 119 points, Odendaal has 102, Bernardi is third with 82 and Öttl has 72.

Saturday
WorldSBK Race One
Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) scored an almost start-to-finish race win after 21-laps of his home track at Misano, in hot and steamy summer conditions. He finished up with a margin of victory of 3.657 seconds, having eased up across the line.
Having broken clear, with only the threatening presence of Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) for close company, his win became more certain after Rea almost fell off his Kawasaki on the low side. Rea survived a massive front-end slide but still managed to get onto the podium.
Losing time and one place to eventual second-placed rider Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team) Rea was a safe third.
Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) another potential winner in the early laps, was fourth but over ten seconds behind his team-mate.
Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team), without the same race pace of the leading few, scored fifth.
Alvaro Bautista (HRC Honda) was sixth, recovering places through the race, but he only just won a final lap joust with privateer rider Axel Bassani (MotoCorsa Racing Ducati) who took a career-best seventh.
Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) lost his chance of a sixth place finish, despite occupying that position for much of the race, and he was finally eighth, one second back from Bassani.
Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team) was ninth, Michael van der Mark (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) was tenth on the second factory BMW.
Chaz Davies (Team GoEleven Ducati) was a faller early on and Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha) finished 12th after his start from pitlane. Leon Haslam (HRC Honda) was 14th.
Eugene Laverty (RC Squadra Corse BMW) was a non-starter after his big fall in the morning.

WorldSSP Race One
After an emotional win at Estoril a second significant WorldSSP win for Dominique Aegerter (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) in Race One at Misano, in the heat of an Italian summer.
His longtime fight with one-time championship leader Steven Odendaal (BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha) ended up with Aegerter moving forward to win by over a second – but not from Odendaal, from second place rider Luca Bernardi (CM Racing Yamaha), more recently a CIV rider than a WorldSSP regular.
With Odendaal third the podium riders were finally cleanly away from the following pack after 18 laps.
Jules Cluzel (GMT94 Yamaha) was fourth and just over five seconds from the win, with Friday fastest rider Manuel Gonzalez (Yamaha ParkinGo Team) fifth, and just 0.031 seconds behind the vastly experienced Cluzel.
The top Kawasaki belonged to Philipp Öttl (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing), in sixth place but over ten seconds from the win. He had Randy Krummenacher (EAB Racing Team) in very close company in seventh place and his own team-mate Can Öncü (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) also right behind his track position for eighth.
Niki Tuuli (MV Agusta Corse Clienti) was top MV rider in ninth place and the top ten was rounded out by Filippo Fuligni (D34G Racing Yamaha).
Aegerter’s win today, and Odendaal’s third, is significant as these factors placed Aegerter at the head of the championship table for the first time.
One more Misano race on Sunday and no WorldSSP round at Donington in early July.

Friday
WorldSBK
Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) took another step-up in his factory racing career as he went fastest of all on the opening day at a hot and steamy Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for the 2021 Misano WorldSBK round.
His 1:34.334 from the afternoon session edged out Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team) into second place, by 0.294 seconds.
Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team) ended his day getting a lift back to pitlane from Scott Redding after his bike stopped out on track – but he still finished Friday as the overall third fastest rider, thanks to his morning best time.
Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) turned around a difficult first session to finish fourth fastest overall on Friday afternoon.
Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha), like Razgatlioglu, also set his best time in the morning session and it was good enough for overall fifth place in the combined times on day one. He was the top Independent Rider.
Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was eventually sixth, despite losing 20 minutes of his afternoon session as he was penalized for not stopping out on track when signaled to do so after his bike developed a problem that saw blue smoke coming out of it at times in FP1.
Despite a fall Alvaro Bautista (HRC Honda) was finally seventh, while the fastest BMW rider was Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) in eighth.
Local rider and new full-time WorldSBK competitor in 2021, Axel Bassani (MotoCorsa Racing Ducati), was ninth and Leon Haslam (HRC Honda) rounded out the top 10 places.
