FMX athletes land first-ever four-rider double backflip train
FMX athletes Jackson Strong, Josh Sheehan, Clinton Moore and Harry Bink land the world’s first four-rider double backflip train. Gravity-defying achievement previews Nitro World Games Brisbane, scheduled for this October.
The following is a press release from Nitro Circus/Nitro World Games…
Los Angeles, CA (May 18, 2021) – Decorated freestyle motocross (FMX) athletes Jackson Strong, Josh Sheehan, Clinton Moore and Harry Bink teamed up in Brisbane, Australia to break a milestone action sports record, landing a four-rider double backflip train (the first time a quad double train has even been attempted).
The four—who will square off against one another in action sport’s premier competition, Nitro World Games, in Brisbane this October—launched more than 50-feet into the air on their 240-pound bikes, one immediately after the other, seemingly suspended in midair with the landmark Story Bridge as an iconic backdrop. “This is incredible,” Jackson Strong remarked afterward. “Pushing the limits is at the heart of action sports so raising the bar like this is what’s all about.”
Josh Sheehan said, “I’ve had the opportunity to compete at Nitro World Games from the beginning, and the skill, strength and all-in mentality we needed today is just as necessary when you’re going up against the best in the game.”
For Strong and Sheehan in particular, the stakes were raised higher still. Both were part of the three-rider team that set the previous record in 2019, so they knew first hand what was on the line. And for Strong, the world’s first almost didn’t happen after he went down hard during practice. But, he pulled through and was able to make the attempt. For all these reasons, setting a new standard–and doing so on home soil–made the accomplishment all the more meaningful.
Of the high-risk factor, Clinton Moore noted, “Just doing a double backflip, solo, is still so gnarly. Then to have four riders going for one, right after the other, requires absolute trust in the ability and professionalism of the entire team.” But then he declared, “Come October though, it’s every man for himself. I want that first place trophy.”
The jaw-dropping accomplishment put Nitro World Games Brisbane’s drive to innovate on full display. Now expanding outside of the U.S. for the first time, on October 23-24, 2021 more than 60 competitors in FMX, skate, BMX and scooter will gather from five continents at SuncorpStadium to vie for global honors. After such a marquee moment today, Strong, Sheehan, Moore and Bink will be even more primed to thrown down in the heat of competition. “After landing something as massive as this, I’m so pumped,” Harry Bink said, “I can’t wait to battle at Suncorp Stadium this October.”
