Trystan Hart turned the tables back on Cody Webb to come out on top of the overall results at the 2021 Mad Moose Hard Enduro in Marquette, Michigan on May 30th. The Mad Moose event was round three of the AMA Extreme Championship Eastern series. FMF KTM backed Hart and FactoryOne Sherco’s Webb have been trading wins so far in the east and west rounds and this one was another close battle. Hart had 1-2-1 moto scores to top Webb’s 2-1-2 finishes.
Rockstar Husqvarna’s Colton Haaker rounded out the podium with 3-3-4 moto finishes.
Hart topped the first moto in a total time of 45 minutes and 38 seconds, 1 minute and 15 seconds ahead of Webb. Haaker was just fifteen seconds behind Webb in third. Taylor Robert finished the first race in fourth with Nick Fahringer fifth.
In race two, Webb turned the tables on Hart but it was a close one with only ten seconds separating the riders after Webb’s winning time of thirty-six minutes and 24 seconds. Haaker was also close to the lead duo, just 31 seconds behind Webb. Delullo Racing Husqvarna rider Ryder LeBlond finished fourth, ahead of Robert.
In the third and final race, Hart managed to take his second win of the day in a time of forty minutes and 21 seconds, just 10 seconds ahead of Webb. LeBlond continued to improve and rounded out the top three in the final moto, just over two minutes behind Hart. Haaker finished the final moto in fourth, just behind LeBlond. Robert rounded out the top five in the final moto.
Behind Hart, Webb and Haaker, LeBlond earned fourth overall and Robert rounded out the top five.
Sixth overall was Fahringer riding his Sherco to 5-6-6 finishes. Noah Kepple was seventh overall with 8-7-7 finishes on his Husqvarna. Canadian Spencer Wilton finished eighth overall on his GasGas with 7-11-8 finishes. Quin Wentzel took ninth overall on his Rieju with consistent 9-9-9 finishes. Cooper Abbott rounded out the top ten with his RPM KTM and 10-8-10 scores.
“It was an amazing day! I won the first moto and Cody won the second moto so it was do or die heading into the final moto. Cody pressured me the whole moto but ultimately I withstood it and secured the win,” Hart said.
“I knew I had to win the final moto but I put myself in terrible contention right off the bat with a bad start. I pushed really hard and picked riders off one by one and got right where I needed to be right behind Trystan early in the lap. I pushed the front right when I caught up to him but I fell back to third and had to battle with Ryder LeBlond, finally I was able to get around him getting back into 2nd place but I lost too much ground. I did all I could and caught Trystan in the end, but just ran out of track,” Webb said after the race.
Only two pro-women competed with FactoryOne Sherco rider Louise Forsley topping Beta’s Rachel Gutish in all three motos. Forsley finished an amazing twenty-fourth overall and Gutish also made all three rounds and finished twenty-ninth overall among the 115 riders that competed.
