Italy’s MV Agusta has teamed up with legendary French sportscar manufacturer Alpine to create the MV Agusta Superveloce Alpine.
Based on the 798cc Superveloce and giving a nod to the Alpine 110, the motorcycle will be limited to 110 units worldwide, although MV Agusta USA is yet to release price and availability details for the American market.
“Many Alpine customers are also big MV Agusta fans, and vice-versa,” said Timur Sardarov, CEO MV Agusta Motor S.p.A. “The Superveloce Alpine will ideally bring the two worlds together, with incredible synergies in terms of design, personality and style. We look forward to this collaboration with one of the most admired brands in the history of motorsport, and are confident that this new, superb limited edition will be met with enthusiasm by bikers and motorsport fans around the world.”
The Superveloce Alpine differs from the base model by way of the metallic Blu Alpine/Ago Silver livery, with each model receiving its serial number stamped into the top triple clamp. The Alpine logo will also be embossed in the leather tank strap, with unique stitching used for the Alcantara seat.
Under the fairing sits a now Euro 5-compliant 798cc inline-three cylinder motor, producing 147 horsepower at 13,000 rpm, with torque measured at a claimed 64 lb-ft at 10,100 rpm. Spent gasses now exit through a twin-outlet black Arrow muffler, compared to the triple outlet of the standard Superveloce.
The chassis has been stiffened, together with revised fork and shock settings for better cornering performance, and MV Agusta has also debuted a new electronics package that includes a slip control system within the traction control algorithm in much the same way as Ducati does with its Ducati Slide Control (DSC) and traction control systems.
The electronics, governed by a new Continental six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit, also contain front wheel lift (wheelie) mitigation software, launch control and a new app has been developed by the company that allows for GPS-tagged data recording of throttle and gear position, speed, lean and pitch angle, as well as turn-by-turn navigation when you pair your phone to the motorcycle.
The Superveloce Alpine is the latest in a seemingly never-ending line of limited edition motorcycles, including the recently released (and limited to just 75 units worldwide) Superveloce 75 Anniversario.
