This is a press release from Suzuki…
Donington Park (April 13, 2020) – Team Suzuki Ecstar MotoGP test rider Sylvain Guintoli rode a production GSX-R1000R road bike to Donington Park in the UK for a track day in February to find out how fast it was in standard specification and on normal road tires.
Join Guintoli for one of his informative videos, filmed pre-COVID-19 lockdown, on how to easily set up a production, out-of-the-crate Suzuki GSX-R1000R for a track day, using the optimal engine settings and tire pressures for the circuit as he joins other riders, then rides back home and explains more about his lap-times and the bike’s performance.

Said Guintoli: “This winter I had this crazy idea and really wanted to find out what the lap time difference was between my MotoGP bike and the road standard GSX-R1000R. So while I was in Malaysia for the MotoGP test, I booked a track day for the end of February at Donington Park and got in touch with Suzuki GB to lend me a road bike. The bike arrived the day before the track day. On the day I rode it to the track, I went as legally quickly as I could and rode back. A mate of mine is a pro movie maker so he followed me and edited my first YouTube video. I can’t tell you how happy I am about it. It was great fun to do it and the response from the public has been so amazing I decided to continue the YouTube project.”
