Press Release | February 11, 2020
After three years of development with pro riders, Leatt has released its new 5.5 FlexLock boots ($389.99).
The FlexLock system is designed to mimic the natural movements of ankles and prevent hyperextension. Leatt says that the FlexLock system can reduce forces to the ankle by up to 37% and the knee by up to 35%—in comparison to equivalent boots from other brands—by locking out the ankle movement when over-flexed.
Leatt provides inserts with the boots so that lateral rigidity of the FlexLock can be increased or decreased.
A SlideLock system closes up the top of the boot using Velcro that slides one way, keeping the shin guard snugger to leg. The SlideLock also makes for a less bulky top of the boot. The inner liner of the boots has impact-absorbing foam, breathable mesh and anti-slip heels. The soles are designed with varying tread patterns for better feel on the controls.
