Alex Marquez Joins Repsol Honda

2019 Moto2 World Champion Alex Marquez will join the Repsol Honda MotoGP squad alongside brother Marc for the 2020 season.
The younger of the two Marquez brothers will replace Jorge Lorenzo, who announced his retirement from the sport at the Valencia season finale.
Alex Marquez’s promotion to the Repsol Honda will be the first time two brothers will occupy the factory Honda motorcycles in the same year and the same team and comes at the expense of Johann Zarco, who was strongly rumored to be in line for the ride.
Alex Marquez started his Grand Prix career in 2012 in a wildcard ride at Indianapolis, prior to a full-time berth in 2013. He took the Moto3 title after a season-long fight with Australian Jack Miller on the Red Bull KTM in 2014, before stepping up to Moto2 in 2015.
He would have to wait until 2017 to notch his first win in the category and took the 2019 Moto2 title with one round to spare at Sepang in Malaysia.
As for Zarco, he has recently been courted by the Avintia Ducati squad but publically shunned the operation as “not a top team”. However, the Frenchman was seen in the factory Ducati truck at Valencia, with rumors circulating the paddock he’s been offered the seat of Karel Abraham on upgraded 2019 equipment. No decision from either Zarco or Ducati has yet been made as Cycle News published this article.
