Tavullia, Italy (September 10, 2019) – Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi had the fans in a frenzy when they unexpectedly saw their hero go past them on his YZR-M1, riding from the VR46 Motor Ranch to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli as a pre-San-Marino-GP stunt.
Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP‘s Valentino Rossi saw his dream come true today at the Gran Premio Octo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini MotoGP pre-event. For years the local hero had hoped to ride his Yamaha YZR-M1 from his VR46 Motor Ranch to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, on public roads, and with careful planning his vision became reality.
Rossi pulled up to the VR46 Motor Ranch early in the afternoon, as he so often does, but this time he did not go for one of his usual off-road bikes. Instead, he slipped on his MotoGP gear and opted to ride his YZR-M1.
Spectators had gathered on either side of the road and the Tavullia town square was packed with fans, all dressed in VR46 gear, rhythmically chanting “Vale!”. The Doctor made a quick stop to greet the crowds before he continued his road trip riding to his next destination: the VR46 headquarters.
A quick interview and a picture with the entire VR46 staff later, he was back on his way, heading straight for the Misano track. However, riding his beloved YZR-M1, he couldn‘t resist a lap around the circuit before parking it in the team‘s pit box, ready for this weekend‘s Grand Prix.
“It‘s a dream come true, because when we were young and rode our 50cc scooters, we always dreamed of passing through Tavullia on a MotoGP bike, the M1, and today that dream became reality. It was a fantastic moment, with great emotion, I enjoyed it very much! The M1 is good on the road, I felt good. In Tavullia, in the town square, there were a lot of people, a lot of fans, and it looked like they also enjoyed it a lot.”
