Throwback Thursday: Buell in a China Shop

In this week’s Throwback we dial back the wayback machine 25 years ago to 1994 and the AMA 750cc Supersport Series race at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, California. It was big news that weekend that the Buell Thunderbolt was making its series debut with multi-time AMA champion Scott Zampach at the controls. It was notable in that it marked the first time in AMA 750 Supersport history that a non-Japanese motorcycle was entered in the class. Zampach ran respectably on the Don Tilley-built machine, just outside the top ten in the race, before the Buell experience motor problems and the Z-Man was forced to retire from the race.
