Press Release | June 4, 2019
The Jr 10 Hr Challenge by Ty Davis is June 16
The Jr 10 Hr Challenge by Ty Davis is scheduled for June 16 and will run alongside Glen Helen’s 3Bros 10-Hour Endurance race.
In 2016, Ty Davis of Zip-Ty Racing Products organized his first 65cc endurance race team that included kids from the ages 7 to 11. The team had 7-year-old Brennon Watson, 8-year-old Dustyn Davis, 9-year-olds Jett Lessing and Tristun Alvarez, and 11-year-old Preston Boespflug.
With the help and support of the Lessing and Watson families, Davis managed three teams in 2018 for the official Jr 24 Hour Challenge. Gary Sutherlin chased most the night, while Sutherlin’s wife, Christy, helped with marketing strategies.

These “race within a race” events focus on youth riders and are held in conjunction with Glen Helen’s famous 6-, 10-, and 24-Hour endurance races. Industry leaders have taken notice and are helping out with sponsorships, swag and support. This year’s race has big names like 100%, GPR Stabilizers, Mobius, PowerBar, Pro Circuit, Rekluse, Seat Concepts, VP Fuels, Wiseco Pistons, and, of course, Zip-Ty Racing. Ty Davis reports that they now have Athans Ice House as a main sponsor for this year’s event.
“These kids prove to us every race that they can hang with the big boys,” Ty Davis’ press release states. “And they have become better and more well-rounded racers for it. Now for 2019, we are seeing families getting involved and creating their own teams with positive competition among friends. The buzz has reached Northern California with teams traveling to participate.”
