2019 Glendale Supercross Results: At least so far, the parity in the 2019 Monster Energy/AMA Supercross Series seems to be pretty great. In the 450cc class inside Glendale, Arizona’s State Farm Stadium, two of the three racers on the podium at round two finished outside the top 10 at the Anaheim series opener, including tonight’s winner, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM’s Blake Baggett. Baggett was 12th at Anaheim One, while Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson—second place in Arizona—finished 14th a week ago. And in the 250cc class, tonight’s winner Adam Cianciarulo (Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki) was fifth a week ago.

As far as the 450cc racing was concerned, Honda’s Ken Roczen grabbed the holeshot in Arizona from the far outside and seemed to have the race well in-hand, only for Motoconcepts/Smartop Honda’s Malcolm Stewart to go down hard while battling inside the top five and knock himself unconscious, bringing out the red flag. On the staggered restart, Anderson benefited most and was placed right on Roczen’s rear wheel. After a few laps of hounding Roczen, Anderson dived to the inside after the whoops and took him out. Roczen remounted fourth and eventually ended up third on the night.
Anderson took over the lead but couldn’t shake Baggett, who stalked the defending champ until he could make a clean pass around the outside down the start straight with only a couple laps to go. At that point, Anderson seemed to give up the fight and settle for second, well ahead of Roczen, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac, Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin and round-one winner Justin Barcia (Monster Energy Yamaha).
“It’s good to just be able to feel good enough to run behind Jason [Anderson],” Baggett said. “I’ve had weekends where I can run with those guys and some weekends they just leave me in the dust, so it feels good to finally get my whole program together and be able to run with those guys. I’ve got to keep things rolling, it hasn’t hit me yet that I finally got a 450 win!”
“This was a good weekend,” said Anderson. “I was able to ride the main better than last week. I had a section that I didn’t think I was great in, so I didn’t want to put myself in a position to go down and lose points. I took second and I’ll go from there.”
Roczen now leads the championship over Barcia by a single point as the series heads back to Angel Stadium this coming Saturday night.

And in the 250cc class, Cianciarulo was absolutely dominant, grabbing the holeshot and taking off with the win over round-one winner, Monster Energy/Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Colt Nichols, and TLD/Red Bull KTM’s Shane McElrath. Fast Qualifier Dylan Ferrandis, Nichols’ teammate, was running up front early in the main when he went down on his own and had to come back through the pack from 16th place. He ended up sixth on the night just behind JGR/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing’s Jimmy Decotis in fifth and GEICO Honda’s RJ Hampshire in fourth.
Nichols still leads the title chase after two rounds are in the books.
