WorldSBK To Return to Laguna Seca in 2019.—WorldSBK fans have been delivered some good news this morning, with the WorldSBK Championship confirmed at Laguna Seca on July 12-14.
WorldSBK To Return to Laguna Seca in 2019
There were many indicators that pointed to the series skipping the Laguna Seca round for the first time since 1995, with the initial calendar holding an ominous “TBA” in the time slot originally allocated for the Laguna round.
It’ll be a busy time for the WorldSBK paddock, as the British round at Donington Park will be the week prior, leaving not a great amount of time to get the circus packed up and sent across the Atlantic and to the other side of the country in California.
The U.S. round will once again not feature the WorldSSP or WorldSSP 300 series, with MotoAmerica filling the undercard slots.
At this stage, there will be no American riders on the grid in 2019 after PJ Jacobsen and Jake Gagne both lost their rides with the Triple M Racing Team and Red Bull Honda team, respectively.
No word yet on if there’ll be any wildcards granted for U.S. riders, but there’ll be a WorldSBK race after all in America, and that’s good news indeed.
