Mile High City always provides exciting EnduroCross action
This is a press release from EnduroCross…
Irvine, CA (October 18, 2018) – After three races, Cody Webb and Colton Haaker are tied up heading into the Denver EnduroCross this Saturday, October 20th. The season has been amazing so far, with large crowds, challenging tracks, and edge-of-your-seat racing action. Now, after a few weeks off, the EnduroCross riders are gearing up for three consecutive weeks of racing to decide the 2018 champions.
FMF KTM-backed Webb kicked off the season with a win in Prescott Valley, Arizona but then Rockstar Husqvarna’s Haaker rebounded with a dominating performance at round two in Costa Mesa, California. At round three, Webb fought back with another win to tie the points up at the halfway mark of the season.
While Webb and Haaker battle for the championship, several other riders are battling to earn podium spots and mix it up with the two championship leaders. Ty Tremaine, riding the Alta Redshift electric bike has become a threat as he improves every race. He has seventh, fourth and third place finishes in the first three rounds. At the most recent race in Reno, his podium finish was the first ever professional AMA podium for an electric powered motorcycle and Tremaine is currently holding third place in the points chase. Keep an eye on the silent assassin.
Kyle Redmond is an EnduroCross veteran with several podium finishes on his resume. The SRT-Husqvarna rider is sitting in fourth in the points and he is always willing to mix it up to earn top finishes.
Geoff Aaron is tied with Redmond for fourth in points. The GasGas-backed rider has multiple EnduroCross wins to his credit and he is having his best season in several years so far. The former Colorado resident also has a strong fan base in Denver.
Ty Cullins is a young Californian that has had a resurgence in speed this season. He currently holds seventh in the points and is also leading the Junior Championship, which is a championship within a championship for riders who are 21 years old or younger. Past Junior Champions include Colton Haaker, Max Gerston, Taylor Robert, Trystan Hart and Ty Tremaine so this is a good indicator of future success.
Noah Kepple, a GasGas-backed rider that is juggling college and EnduroCross racing sits eighth in points. He is known for finding unique lines through the difficult EnduroCross obstacles.
Chile’s Benjamin Herrera has proven to be a quick study in EnduroCross and is tied for eighth in points. The Beta rider has a silky-smooth riding style that is fun to watch.
Cooper Abbott rounds out the top ten at the halfway point of the season. The RPM KTM rider has had amazing speed that has resulted in great qualifying times so far this season and he just needs to limit the mistakes in the main events to move up the order. He will be trying to close the gap on Cullins in the Junior championship.
Trystan Hart is a young Canadian that has been mixing it up with Webb and Haaker over the past few years and he finished the 2017 season in second place in points. He holds sixth in points but, unfortunately, will miss the remainder of the season due to a wrist injury.
In addition to the pro class, EnduroCross events include classes for the Women, Vet 35+, Amateur and TrialsCross.
In the Women’s class, Canada’s Shelby Turner holds a small edge over California’s Kacy Martinez in the championship chase. These two riders are very evenly matched so this will be an exciting battle to watch in the remaining races.
