2019 Aprilia Tuono 1100 First Look—The Aprilia Tuono 1100 is one of the maddest nakedbikes of all time and for 2019, the Italian V4 powerhouse is getting some shiny new Ohlins semi-active suspension forks and shock and a few styling cues to keep it fresh.

Rumors have been circulating that Aprilia will be giving the Tuono a real workover in either 2020 or 2021, so this 2019 version is not all that different to last year’s model. Ohlins have graced the Tuono with their Smart EC 2.0 suspension, the same system that debuted on the Ducati Panigale V4 earlier this year. The fitment of such a system puts the Aprilia firmly at the top of the tree as far as spec goes in the nakedbike category.
The Smart EC system can run in either full automatic mode, where the ECU will monitor suspension behavior and adjust in real time, or you can switch it to old-school manual, where there are three preset modes of Track, Sport and Road and now electronic intervention. The beauty of the system is that you get the best of three worlds when in manual, and you can even go into the dash and program the exact behavior you want from the suspension via the new OBTi (Objective Based Tuning Interface).
Plus, if you get lost in your ever-increasing meddling with the suspension, you can just press a button and the system defaults back to the standard settings.
The 65° 1100cc V4 motor remains unchanged, as does the chassis and the Aprilia Performance Ride Control electronics suite that houses traction, wheelie, and ABS, quickshifter, pitlane speed limiter, launch and cruise control.
There are also subtle changes to the color scheme for 2019.
No word as yet on the price and availability of the 2019 Aprilia Tuono 1100.
