Throwback Thursday: David Sadowski’s Double-Win Weekend
In this week’s Throwback we dial is back over 30 years to June of 1988. George Michael’s “One More Try” topped the pop charts, “Bull Durham” was hitting movie screens and Microsoft released MS DOS 4.0.
The AMA National Road Race Championships was making its annual visit to Bryar Motorsports Park in Loudon, New Hampshire. The home crowd was thrilled with the results of AMA Vance & Hines 600 Supersport race that saw home track hero David Sadowski hold off a determined charge by rival Jamie James to earn his first AMA 600 Supersport victory. James tried to go around the outside of “Ski” and the final turn and tossed his Suzuki away.
Here Sadowski celebrates on the podium alongside runner-up Doug Polen and John Ashmead, who finished third.
“I had a hell of a time holding Jamie behind me,” Sadowski said. “The shift lever on my bike broke on the last lap. I wouldn’t have made it another lap.”
It was a memorable weekend for Sadowski. He also won the 750 Supersport race that weekend.
