Throwback Thursday: Three Wide at Road America

In this week’s Throwback we wind back the clock 25 years to the AMA Superbike race at Road America in 1993. In the early going Kawasaki’s Miguel Duhamel (17), and Vance & Hines Yamaha riders Colin Edwards (45) and Jamie James (2) going three-wide into turn five while battling for the lead. Ferracci Ducati’s Doug Polen (just behind Mike Smith’s No. 68 Honda) moved all the way up from ninth to win the race that day in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Duhamel took second with James rounding out the podium finishers. Other riders visible in this photo of a talent-laden field are Kawasaki’s “Tiger” Sohwa (60), Pascal Picotte (21), Dale Quarterley (32), Mike Smith (68), Thomas Stevens (11) and others.
