The Maluti’s Are Calling
This is a press release from Motul…
(August 23, 2018) — In unique, spectacular Lesotho, a small kingdom fully encircled by South Africa, the mountains and views are absolutely stunning. And it’s right here that the Motul Roof of Africa Enduro Rally takes place every year. This year, we’re celebrating the 51th edition of the mother of Hard Enduro.

Worldwide, Hard Enduro or Extreme Enduro, has become increasingly popular and the Motul Roof of Africa has earned an awesome reputation as one of the hardest to compete in. The three-day race attracts overseas interest and regular participation from a large contingent of international competitors, as well as pro and amateur local riders.
Scheduled to take place December 6-8 in Lesotho, the 2018 Motul Roof of Africa is the final round of the Red Bull Hard Enduro Series for this year, and as usual it promises to be a stiff test for man and machine alike.
The setting that Lesotho provides really is amazing for both riders and spectators. The riders will take on the challenge of conquering rock-strewn mountains, passing through steep rivers and riding through endless green landscapes, sometimes through the snow of the mountaintops. This combination makes it one of the most fascinating places to ride an Enduro Motorcycle.
The Roof of Africa is tough, and most definitely not for beginners. These aren’t your average signposted Enduro trails – you’ll need to find your own trails during this three-day event. It’s all part of the challenge.
Motul Title Sponsor
This will be Motul South Africa’s third year as title sponsor and a good opportunity for them to support this much anticipated event in the Extreme Enduro calendar. Although Motul has been the lubricant partner of choice for past races, Motul Area Manager for Eastern and Southern Africa, Mercia Jansen, says being an official title sponsor for the third year remains a huge honour for the brand. “We are proud to associate ourselves with many different types of motorsport across the globe, and being a part of one of the hardest Enduro races in the world, is a unique experience,” she says.
Over the years, Motul has gained experience as the official supplier to many racing teams and manufacturers, and collaborates with them all year round to support technological advances in motorsport.

As the oldest off-road race in Africa and one of the oldest in the world, the Motul Roof of Africa has deservedly earned the title of The Mother of Hard Enduro, and, in 2017, it celebrated its 50th anniversary. Here’s the video from 2017:
