Last week in Minneapolis, Cooper Webb suffered a fractured tibia that ended up requiring surgery. It has not yet been announced how long he will be out of action.
This means that Justin Barcia will be holding down the fort for the Yamaha squad. Barcia just returned to action last week from injury.
Barcia is looking forward to the race.
“I’m really stoked to race in Foxborough this weekend!” Barcia said. “I grew up around here and this place usually has a great turnout of fans, so it’s exciting. I definitely was really sore after last weekend’s race, the intensity at the races is really high and I haven’t done that in a while. I’m looking forward to this weekend with the normal race format, I think it will suit my style and how my body is right now a little better because I’ve been doing a lot of MX to get ready for outdoors as well. Luckily when I came back to racing, my bike was super good so I don’t have to test or anything this week, which makes my life easier. I wasn’t fully satisfied with the way it turned out last week but for the first race back, it’s not bad and I plan on being up there in the fight this weekend as well!”
You can meet Barcia, as well as Yamaha bLU cRU riders during a meet and greet Friday night, from 6-7 p.m., at powersport store MOMS Foxboro located at 1000 Washington St. in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
