This is a press release from Kuryakyn…
Somerset, WI (March 4, 2018) – “The thrill of flat track racing recaptured an entire industry and fan base with its recent resurgence,” Undria Davis, Kuryakyn Creative Marketing Manager says. “We’re incredibly proud to support Jared and his team in their pursuit of retaining the No. 1 plate. At the same time, this sponsorship combined with the rising popularity of flat track racing presents an exciting opportunity for us to reach a new enthusiast demographic that aligns extremely well with our brand’s direction going forward.”
-Undria Davis, Kuryakyn Creative Marketing Manager
Mees is set to defend a dominant 2017 campaign where he won 10 races en route to earning Indian® Motorcycle its first Grand National championship in over 60 years. This sponsorship agreement marks Kuryakyn’s return to racing following their support of riders competing in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series and AMA Vance & Hines XR1200 Series in 2011.
2017 was nothing short of a banner year for Mees. Competing in 18 races, he reached the podium a record 17 times. Riding on the new Indian FTR750 platform, Mees racked up 10 first place finishes, six seconds, and one third — more podium spots in a single season than any other rider in flat track racing’s illustrious history. He also won the flat track “Grand Slam” in 2017, taking the checkered flags in short track, TT, half-mile, and mile races. There’s no doubt that Mees is at the top of his game as the 2018 AFT season gets set to kick off in Daytona on March 15.
Jared “Jammer” Mees:
“I’m excited to bring Kuryakyn on board with my program. They’re well known in the aftermarket motorcycle industry and have a lot to offer in regards to increasing flat track racing exposure. I couldn’t do what I do without the support of my sponsors, and I look forward to engaging a great new partnership with Kuryakyn.”
Overall, the “Indian Wrecking Crew” rider’s career resume is impressive. Mees has tallied four Grand National Championships (2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017), five premier class titles, and wins at the Superprestigio of the Americas and Troy Bayliss Classic. He’s also had his share of Summer X-Games success, with a gold medal in 2016 and silver in 2017.
