Daytona Beach, FL (March 13, 2018) – American Flat Track (AFT) is pleased to announce that Husqvarna Motorcycles will continue as the Official Motorcycle of AFT Singles for the 2018 season.
Underlining its commitment to both the world’s premier dirt track motorcycle racing series and its contingent of rising stars, Husqvarna Motorcycles has matched last year’s record-breaking contingency of $88,700 to be made available to this year’s Singles competitors.
“We are delighted to continue to partner with Husqvarna Motorcycles for the 2018 season,” said Michael Lock, CEO of American Flat Track. “The AFT Singles class is the perfect combination of fast-and-furious pro flat track racing and young, talented athletes on production-based bikes. Husqvarna’s commitment to the class in general, and specifically in bringing AFT Singles its first-ever factory-backed rider in Shayna Texter, is a real boost for the sport.”
Husqvarna Motorcycles boasts a proud racing heritage, having garnered more than 70 world titles while competing at the highest levels of off-road racing dating back to the 1930s. A renewed push in recent seasons has seen the marque break new ground in a number of other hotly-contested battlegrounds beyond its traditional stomping grounds of World Motocross, World Enduro, World Supermoto, and Baja 1000 racing.
Over the past few years, Husqvarna Motorcycles has faced down the planet’s best in some of the most challenging series in existence, taking podiums in the FIM Moto3 World Championship and establishing itself a legitimate modern-day AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross superpower.
Husqvarna Motorcycles has now set its sights on doing the same in AFT Singles with its race-proven FC 450.
“Husqvarna Motorcycles is proud to be the ‘Official Motorcycle of the AFT Singles Class’ for the second year running,” said Husqvarna Marketing Manager Jenna Parker. “We are excited by the developments in the American Flat Track championship series, and look forward to seeing the sport continue to cultivate enthusiasm for motorcycling.”
Husqvarna Motorcycles will put $4,650 up for grabs for Husqvarna FC 450-mounted riders in all 18 rounds of the 2018 AFT Singles season. Additionally, a $5000 bonus pool is available to riders who finish in the championship in the top three aboard Husqvarna equipment.
AFT Singles riders competing on a 2017 or newer Husqvarna FC 450 can follow the company’s outlined Contingency Program to be eligible for the following per-race contingency payout:
