2018 Indianapolis 450cc Supercross Results: At least for about half of the race, we had one of the showdowns up front in Indianapolis that the fans had been waiting for all year; Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin out front, with Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac giving chase. But it didn’t last, and in the end, Musquin scored his second win of the year.
Musquin got the holeshot in front of Tomac to start the main event, while points leader Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) went down in turn one with Monster Energy Yamaha’s Cooper Webb, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Tyler Bowers, and Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM’s Blake Baggett. All four of them started their way back up through the field once they were up, and all four ended up finishing in the top 11.
Musquin put in a quick sprint out front, but he couldn’t quite get away from Tomac.

Tomac had the faster overall laptime in the battle up front, but overall, they matched each other’s pace until Tomac went down hard. Tomac was down for almost a minute and 15 seconds, but rejoined the race near the back of the pack, and once Tomac was down, there was nobody close to Musquin, who cruised home to win by 29.439 seconds.
Behind Musquin, once Tomac went down, Anderson’s teammate Dean Wilson inherited second, but he was soon joined by Musquin’s teammate Broc Tickle. Tickle made the pass for second and held the position for quite a few laps until Wilson took him out. Wilson later apologized for it and blamed the move on arm-pump.

When Tickle went down, Brayton ended up taking over third place, where he would stay to the finish, finishing just in front of Anderson, who recovered for a remarkable fourth-place finish. Tickle ended up fifth for the third time this season.
Behind Tickle came AutoTrader/JGR Suzuki’s Malcolm Stewart with his best finish of the season, followed by Webb, Baggett’s teammate Benny Bloss, Chad Reed, Baggett and Bowers.
