The new Dainese “72” Collection
The new Dainese Settantadue collection of gear takes design inspiration from the Dainese legacy. Settantadue is “72” in Italian and refers to the year 1972, the year the Italian company was founded by the then-20-year-old Lino Dainese in Molvena, Italy.
“Transfer the emotions that you feel when you enter our Archive in Molvena; Dainese Settantadue arises exactly from this idea,” explains CEO Cristiano Silei. “Heritage, beauty and contemporaneity are the three values on which the new brand is based. In perfect harmony with our history and our roots, it reinterprets technical garments to embrace an even larger audience.”
Here are the highlights of the new lineup of Dainese Settantadue:
Dainese Piega72 ($349.95)
One of Dainese’s first products in 1972 was a pair of riding pants. Piega72 honors these origins, crafted from premium cowhide with Pro Armor at the knees and a hidden connection system that is compatible with any of the Dainese72 jackets.
Dainese Rapida72 ($649.95)
The Dainese Rapida72 is a leather motorcycle jacket designed in the style of the two-piece leathers worn by moto racers in the 1970s. It has a soft cow leather outer shell, red-and-white racing stripes on both sleeves, a double snap collar and pre-curved sleeves. There are twin waist pockets on the front with a left chest pocket, and an internal security pocket for things like phones and wallets. Each jacket ships with removable soft Pro-Armor protectors certified to the EN 1621.1 standard in the shoulders and elbows, as well as a pocket for a back protector – designed to take either the Dainese G1 or G2 armor.
Dainese Patina72 ($1,099.95)
The leather on the Patina27 has – you guessed it – a patina treatment. Each Patina72 jacket has a unique inner liner created and printed exclusively for Dainese72 by the New York artist Othelo Gervacio.
Dainese Toga72 ($699.95)
The Toga72 jacket takes one of Dainese’s very first racing leathers, the Toga (pictured above left), and re-creates it with today’s materials and technologies.
In addition to jackets and pants, the Dianese Settentadue collection also has gloves, accessories, T-shirts and more.
