We Chat With Rachelle McMullin from Woody’s Wheel Works at the KTM Adventure Rider Rally.
The 2017 KTM Adventure Rider Rally was held in Crested Butte, Colorado for the second time in three years. With nearly 500 attendees including a massive staff of KTM event planners, celebrity riders, world-class racers and helpful technicians, it was a popular destination, to say the least. On top of that, nearly 30 vendors from the Adventure Motorcycling industry showcased their latest adventure-motorcycle gear and services.
We had a quick chat with Woody’s Wheel Works’ Rachelle McMullin inside their booth at the KTM Adventure Rider Rally to see why they made the trip, what kind of cool new stuff they have and what they think the KTM Adventure Rider Rally is all about.
What product is drawing the most interest from the attendees at the KTM Rally?
Rachelle McMullin: Most people coming into the booth this weekend are interested in our sealant systems to go tubeless. It’s our own design that seals the rim. That, and our super light billet hubs as well.
The sealant process is one that Woody himself designed. It’s a three-layer process that we let cure through each stage. It takes about a week to complete. We can do it on stock wheels for customers, but we prefer to do it on upgraded wheels because stock wheels are much more likely to come out of true, bend and have other issues.
Why should riders consider attending the KTM Adventure Rider Rally?
Rachelle McMullin: I think the attractive thing about this event is the location—just having the opportunity to check out the area and the trails here. Also, to meet other riders and see what they’re outfitted with makes it a really great event.CN
