2017 Adelanto WORCS Racing Results – Taylor Robert may have won the battle at the final round of the 2017 Rocky Mountain ATV-MC WORCS Championship in Adelanto, California, October 7-8, but it was Gary Sutherlin who won the war.

Robert, of the FMF/KTM Team, had the lead just a few turns into the race, which was staged at Adelanto Stadium, and from that point on it was all his. He took the checkered flag leading the way for the sixth time of the 10-race series, but it wasn’t enough to catch Sutherlin in the championship. That’s because Robert sat out four rounds with an injury, which proved too much to make up.
“I wasn’t the first one to the first turn, but I was the first one out of it,” said Robert. “I just had a solid race and I had a fun time. I like to sprint really hard the first couple of laps, get out front and then I can do my own thing. The track was cool. It was kind of short, but it was really fun. The KTM was great. The electric starter got me off to a really good start, I just snuck around Gary on the inside and said ‘see ya.’”

Fifth in the race, however, was more than enough for Sutherlin to claim the 2017 title for his Purvines DA8 Racing Yamaha Team.
“Ron Purvines stepped up this year and gave me a great opportunity,” said Sutherlin. “We really put Yamaha on the map this year. They haven’t really been anywhere on the West Coast for the last 10 years. To win a championship for them and for Ron is huge. We’re looking for big things from Yamaha next year.”
Second place on the day was KTM-mounted Eric Yorba, followed by Honda riders Blayne Thompson and Trevor Stewart.
Dante Oliveira (KTM) topped the Pro 2 class over Shane O’Dor (Kawasaki) and Alex Dorsey (KTM), while Clayton Hengeveld (Kawasaki) won the Pro 2 Lites class over Austin Serpa (KTM) and Jake Alvarez (Husqvarna).
