This is a press release from Indian Motorcycle Racing…
Minneapolis, MN (September 5, 2017) – The Indian Wrecking Crew and the Scout FTR750 secured its 12th first-place finish and sixth podium sweep of the 2017 American Flat Track season at the Springfield Mile II. Season points leader Jared Mees captured his eighth win of the season, while fellow Wrecking Crew riders Bryan Smith and Brad Baker placed second and third, respectfully.
After finishing second at the Springfield Mile I on May 28, Mees got redemption when he edged out fellow Wrecking Crew rider Bryan Smith by .021 at the Springfield Mile II. With three races remaining, Mees is in control to earn his fourth career American Flat Track Championship.
“Hats off to my team for having my Indian Scout FTR750 dialed in,” said Mees. “After getting edged out by .005 back in May, this was the race I had circled on the calendar and really wanted to win. With three races remaining, we’re preparing to finish the season strong.”
Through 15 races this season, Indian Motorcycle Racing and the Scout FTR750 have secured 33 of the season’s 45 podiums. The Indian Wrecking Crew holds the top three positions in the season’s point standings with Mees at 317, Smith at 271 and Baker with 227 total points.
“Jared and Bryan have been competing all season long, so it was no surprise to see those two at it again at the Springfield Mile,” said Gary Gray, Vice President – Product for Indian Motorcycle. “To capture our sixth podium sweep of the season is remarkable and a testament to all the hard work and preparation from our team.”
Indian Motorcycle Racing, backed by Allstate Insurance, will look to continue its incredible run as American Flat Track heads to the Williams Grove Half-Mile on September 9.
