This is a press release from Motonation…
Ottobiano, Portugal (July 3, 2017) – After an extraordinary weekend in Ottobiano, Portugal set the stage for another one of Tony Cairoli’s remarkable feats. Round 12 of the 2017 MXGP Championship was held on the Agueda raceway, where the Sicilian rider from KTM scored another important win in his quest for the World Championship. Cairoli was second in race 1, where he was bested by Jeffrey Herlings; however, he came back with a first place in race 2 to take home the final classification in the Grand Prix competition. So Tony Cairoli hangs on to the red card as the leader in the World Series. Thanks to this victory Tony has brought his lead in the overall standings of the championship to a 91 point advantage over Clement Desalle, who is in second place.
And it wasn’t all about Cairoli. The Sidi triumph in Portugal also came from the MX2 class, where Switzerland’s Jeremy Seewer (Suzuki), second in race1 and first in race2, had an epic battle with the World Series leader Pauls Jonass. This round went to Seewer, but Jonass remains in the lead in the general classification with a consistent margin of 38 points ahead of the Swiss rider. Sidi’s celebration was completed with the third place by American Thomas Covington (Husqvarna) and fourth by the Dane Thomas Kjer Olsen (Husqvarna).
Whether they are battling on the track or shining on the podium, all the champions from Sidi’s fantastic team can count on their Crossfire 3 SRS, the number one boot in Sidi’s off-road collection which has proven to be unbeatable on any type of terrain and in any situation.
Don’t miss the next big date in the MX World Series, in Loket, the Czech Republic, on July 23rd. It will be a race to win!
