Maser (Treviso), 22 May, 2017 – It was a weekend to remember for Sidi and its riders. On the Teutschenthal racetrack for the German GP and round 8 in the World Championship series, Sidi riders knew no rivals.
In the MXGP class, Antonio Cairoli (Ktm) scored a second in race 1 and first in race 2 to make it to the top step of the podium and claim the German GP as his own. This is the 80th career GP win for the Sicilian ace. Tony Cairoli has achieved record numbers, and has no intention of stopping here. Cairoli still holds the red plate as the points leader and he took advantage of the off day that his rival, Tim Gajser was having, to strengthen his lead in the rankings, where he is now in firm command with 305 points, against Gajser’s 261.
But the winning doesn’t stop here. In the MX2 ranks, the champions from Sidi performed a masterpiece by clinching first and second place and placing no less than four riders in the day’s Top5. The Grand Prix victory went to Switzerland’s Jeremy Seewer (Suzuki), who was first in race1 and fourth in race 2. Second place went to Australian’s Hunter Lawrence (Suzuki), who scored fourth in race1 and third in race 2.
Furthermore, just shy of the podium we find American Thomas Covington (Husqvarna) in fourth place after coming in fourth in race1 and winning race2, and Denmark’s Thomas Olsen (Husqvarna) in fifth place, after scoring third in race1 and 12th in race2. Only the intrusion on the third step of the podium by a strong Paul Jonass kept Sidi from scoring a complete poker hand. Jonass continues to lead the MX2 World Series rankings with 325 points with Jeremy Seewer in hot pursuit with 288 points.
