2017 Seattle 450cc Supercross Results: It’s obvious that there are no team orders at Red Bull KTM in regard to forcing Marvin Musquin to lay up to allow points leader and defending champion Ryan Dungey to take as many points as possible, but that wasn’t destined to come into play in Seattle.
Monster Energy/Yamalube/Chaparral Yamaha’s Cooper Webb was the fastest guy in daytime qualifying, and was dominant in winning his heat race while Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac barely qualified out of his heat. Dungey stated that he was aiming to win in Seattle, but he got a bad jump off the start and ended up being collected in a first-turn fall when Webb clipped a Tuff Block on the inside of turn one, knocking it in front of RCH Suzuki’s Justin Bogle, who clipped it and careened into Dungey, taking the champ and AutoTrader/JGR Suzuki’s Justin Barcia down with him. Dungey was up dead last.

Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM’s Davi Millsaps got the holeshot, but immediately Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson took over the lead. Millsaps settled in for second in front of Musquin, Webb and Bogle’s teammate Broc Tickle. Tomac started well outside the top 10.
Musquin made quick work of the leaders, though, and pushed Anderson wide for the lead before the track’s triple jump to take the lead. Webb soon moved into third, but before long, Tomac was on him. Only a couple laps into the race, Tomac had caught up to Webb in third, as Tomac was putting rhythms together that nobody could match. But when Tomac went by Webb for second, Webb fought right back and shoved Tomac wide. The move seemed to fluster Tomac and fire up Webb, as Tomac began losing time to Webb and Webb ended up catching and passing Anderson for second.

Eventually, Tomac got things figured out and began moving forward again, went by Anderson, and then just as he caught Webb, Tomac cased a double and went down, getting back up in fourth place. At this point, Dungey had caught up to seventh.
Tomac slowly got his rhythm back again, and caught up to Anderson in third just as Anderson began pressuring Webb for second again. After the triple, Anderson went to the inside of Webb entering the rhythm section, and Webb seemed almost startled and jumped wide, catching a Tuff Block and going down big. Anderson moved to second, and Tomac to third. Webb got up in eighth, where he would eventually finish.
Tomac soon passed Anderson for second, but by that point, the race was only a couple laps from being over, and although Tomac was the fastest guy on the track, he never saw Musquin out front as Musquin took his second win of the year in front of Tomac and Anderson.
On the very last lap, Dungey found his way by Millsaps for fourth when Millsaps appeared to let up for the champ. Millsaps was fifth in front of Tickle, Blake Baggett, Webb, Reed and Anderson’s teammate Dean Wilson.
With three rounds left to run in the championship, we now have co-points-leaders, with Dungey and Tomac tied atop the points with 294 apiece.
