Anthony Delhalle Passes After Testing Crash
Five time and current Endurance World Champion, Anthony Delhalle, has been killed while testing for the upcoming EWC season in France on March 9.
Part of the dominating Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (SERT) with teammates Vincent Phillipe and Etienne Masson, Delhalle was conducting testing of the new Suzuki GSX-R1000R at the Circuit Paul Armagnac in southwest France when he crashed at the end of the pit straight in the first session. He was taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Delhalle was one of the most experienced and widely respected Endurance racers in the world, having taken the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016 world titles, and was leading the 2017 standing with SERT after clinching victory at round one of the 2016/2017 championship at the Bol d’Or 24 Hour last September.
Cycle News joins the international motorcycle community in extending its deepest sympathies to Anthony’s many family, friends and competitors.
