Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Comes Through The Pack in Atlanta.
This is a press release from Pro Circuit…
Atlanta (February 25, 2017) – Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy and Adam Cianciarulo worked through mid-pack starts to finish fourth and seventh, respectively, during one of the final events that will take place inside the Georgia Dome. With two races out of nine complete, Savatgy sits second and only two points back in the championship standings, while Cianciarulo is currently fifth.
Savatgy entered the night show as the top qualifier after posting the fastest time in practice. He raced to a second-place finish in his heat race, giving him a nice gate pick going into the main event. The start was a bit tricky and chaotic, leaving Savatgy to come around the first lap in eighth. He had worked his way into fifth by the halfway mark, eventually picking off one more rider before the checkered flag where he finished fourth.
“We struggled a little bit today and not getting the start in the main definitely made it for a tougher race than I wanted,” said Savatgy. “We are just two points back with seven rounds still to go so there is a lot of racing left. My goal is to be on the podium every race so I’m looking to get back up there next weekend.”
Cianciarulo started the night earning his third career heat-race win. After the first lap of the main event, Cianciarulo sat close to the front-runners in fourth. He was staying with the pack but had a quick tip over and then was forced off the track trying to avoid a crash in front of him. When he was able to rejoin, he was pushed back to 10th and had to work hard again to move through the pack. Cianciarulo used the final laps to move into seventh, where he finished.
“I feel like I’ve been making some silly rookie mistakes, but I know that will come around when I get some more racing under my belt,” said Cianciarulo. “Even with the mistakes that I made, I do think my racing is coming along after so much time away from supercross.”
