Alamogordo, New Mexico (February 7, 2017) – The 2017 AMA KENDA/SRT National Hare & Hound series heads to Alamogordo, New Mexico this weekend! Hosted by Prairie Dawgs MC and Gas It Off-Road, over 100 sweet miles of southern New Mexico desert await the riders of the infamous Tarantula 100.
After an extremely exciting series opener in January, the competition in ALL ranks has shaped up to produce some unforgettable racing that spectators won’t want to miss. The nation’s best desert racers will line up on the Zip Ty Starting line to tackle three loops; one 40 mile loop, then a 36 mile loop and then riders will again take on a burned in and rougher loop one (40 miles) to the finish. Tune into our Facebook to watch LIVE (service permitting). Spectators can gather at the KTM Finish Line to watch as the West Coast’s fastest off-road riders take the checkered flag.
Saturday starts with sign-ups from 8am-11am (and again from 4pm-6pm, and Sunday from 6am-8am). The main feature on Saturday is the Youth Series, which begins at 12pm with a Rider’s Meeting on the start line at 11:45am. The Kurt Caselli Foundation will also be on-site to hand out the KC66 orange glow bibs for Youth riders to increase the visibility while racing. Sunday’s big bike race begins when the banner goes up at 9:00am- so don’t be late.

The NHHA is proud to introduce our partnership with Fasst Co. for the “Youth Hound Development Award”. The Youth Hound Development Award is meant to help groom the “hounds” of tomorrow by rewarding the first rider to catch the hare of each Youth race with a prize and offered contract of 50% off with Fasst Co. For round two, a Pro rider will be the featured hare and you can catch all the action on Saturday starting with Race 1, the Pee Wee race at 12pm.
