2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series Underway: It’s official, the 2017 supercross season is underway and the 450SX-class riders and 250SX West riders got the chance to take to the track for the first time under semi-sunny skies. Rain was in the forecast but not anymore, so it looks as though the opening round won’t be a mudder after all. Instead, after the plastic covering was removed over the track, dust was a slight issue in the first couple of practice sessions. A slightly altered schedule saw the cancellation of the first practice, so riders were on the clock right away for the first of two timed qualifying session.

Aaron Plessinger set the quickest time in the first 250SX practice and Ken Roczen was the quickest in the first 450SX time practice. Justin Hill, Mitchell Oldenburg, Jeremy Martin and James Decotis filled out the top five in the 250SX class, and Marvin Musquin, Cole Seely, Jason Anderson and Ryan Dungey finished out the first five of the 450SX class.
James Stewart is not here, announcing on Instagram yesterday that he’s still trying to finalize his own team but will be back on the track soon.
More qualifying is ahead but again the good new is no rain is in the forecast for the rest of the day (at least at the moment).
