2017 Aprilia Shiver 900: FIRST LOOK
Rennie Scaysbrook | November 8, 2016
Often overlooked, the Aprilia Shiver has been a solid performer for the Noale brand since being released nearly eight years ago, so Aprilian has decided to reward the plucky naked by giving it a makeover.
Just like the Dorsoduro, the Aprilia Shiver will get the brand new DOHC, 900cc V-twin motor for next year, giving it a claimed 95hp and 66lb-ft of torque accessed by the Ride-by-Wire throttle.
The chassis gets a new Kayaba 41mm fork that has rebound damping and preload adjustment with 120mm of travel; the rear shock is also rebound and preload adjustable and provides 130mm of travel.
The Shiver gets the Aprilia traction control system, a first for the model, and the bike will also be fitted with a new 4.3” TFT screen in the dash that allows connectivity to your smartphone via the Aprilia Multimedia Platform (AMP), which provides the data related to incoming/active calls on the screen, as well as information related to the use of an intercom or any audio files being played.
Aesthetically, the Shiver is far more aggressive than before with new bodywork and colors, redesigned exhaust mufflers, fuel tank covers, side panels, tail fairing and front mudguard. The mufflers are in the original position, but the end of the silencer is shorter and directed upward. The exhaust flow is now directed downward and to the side in order to prevent interference with the passenger and to guarantee greater comfort.
