Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing, above) and Randy Krummenacher (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) made it an official Kawasaki 1-2 after the first two qualifying sessions of the FIM Supersport World Championship weekend at Magny Cours in France.
In sunny conditions privateer Kawasaki ESS rider Illia Mikhalchik (DS Junior Team Kawasaki) was third overall, despite being in a class-within-a-class that only competes in the European-based rounds of the championship.
With Superpole 2 still to come for the first ten riders from today, and the next two best qualifiers after Superpole 1, Ayrton Badovini (GEMAR Balloons – Team Lorini Honda) was fourth fastest, ESS rider Axel Bassani (San Carlo Team Italia Kawasaki) fifth and Lausitzring podium sensation Niki Tuuli (Kallio Racing Yamaha) sixth.
The first F3 MV Agusta in the combined times belonged to Jules Cluzel (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) in seventh place. Christian Gamarino (Team GOELEVEN Kawasaki) went eighth. Alex Baldolini (Race Department ATK#25 MV Agusta) was ninth and ESS rider Alessandro Zaccone (San Carlo Team Italia Kawasaki) tenth. American PJ Jacobsen (Honda World Supersport Team) will now go forward to Superpole 1, as will Lorenzo Zanetti (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) – 12th today – and all the remainder of the 39 strong field.
