Moto3: Binder’s Path to Glory
Rennie Scaysbrook | September 22, 2016
This weekend’s Aragon MotoGP has special significance for Brad Binder, as it is the KTM rider’s first chance at clinching the title. Should he do so, he will become the first South African since Jon Ekerold in the 350cc class in 1980 to be crowned World Champion.
This list has been compiled by MotoGP.com
- If Binder finishes first or second he will be World Champion irrespective of where his closest rivals finish.
- If Binder finishes third he will be champion if closest rival Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing Moto3) does not win the race.
- If Binder finishes fourth, fifth or sixth he will be champion if Bastianini does not finish either first or second and Jorge Navarro (Estrella Galicia 0,0) does not win the race.
- If Binder finishes seventh he will be champion if Bastianini does not finish on the podium and Jorge Navarro does not win the race.
- If Binder finishes eighth or ninth he will be champion if Bastianini does not finish on the podium, Navarro does not finish either first or second and Bulega does not win the race.
- It is still possible for Binder to win the title finishing lower than ninth, but it then gets more dependent on where his rivals finish. 100+ points ahead by the flag makes the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider the 2016 Moto3 World Champion.
