The AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series, presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, picked up where it left off after a three-month break with the 12th Annual Parts Unlimited Unadilla GNCC. And Kailub Russell, the defending GNCC champ, picked up where he left off by taking the win. As usual, the FMF KTM rider did it with relative ease on what was a very brutal race course.

Russell didn’t get the best of starts but had a commanding lead before the first lap was over. He never looked back from that point on and took the win with about two minutes to spare over Rockstar Husqvarn’as Josh Strang and Rocky Mountain ATV-MC/KRV Arrive-N-Ride Husky’s Thad DuVall.
Stang and DuVall battled all day with Strang hanging on to be DuVall by just inches across the finish line.
Fourth in the race went to STR/KTM/Kenda’s Steward Baylor Jr., while fifth went to Coastal Racing/Rockstar/Husqvarna’s Ryan Sipes.
In XC2, N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha’s Josh Toth held off a late-race attack by Coastal Racing/Husqvarna/MSR’s Layne Michael, who was the early leader of the class. This was Toth’s first ever XC2 Pro Lites win.
Beta USA/Fly Racing/Kenda Tires-backed Nick Davis finished third ahead of Trail Jesters Racing’s Ben Kelly and Coastal Racing/Husqvarna/MSR’s Craig DeLong.
Alex Teagarden was the top amateur finisher in 23rd overall, and Becca Sheets, on FLY Racing/Maxxis/Seat Concepts Yamaha, topped the WXC division.
