Kailub Russell Tops Mountaineer GNCC: Kailub Russell scored his eighth victory of the season when he took the checkered flag leading the way at the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Mountaineer Run GNCC in Masontown, West Virginia, September 25. It was round 11 of the 2016 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series, presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship.

Russell, on the FMF KTM, took the lead from Cory Buttrick on the second lap and was never headed again. He ultimately crossed the finish line ahead of Rocky Mountain ATV-MC/KR4 Arrive-N-Ride Team’s Thad DuVall, who kept Russell honest in the early going before slipping back a bit.
Third overall went to another Russell, Ricky Russell on the MCS Racing Suzuki/Obermeyer/Kenda/MX Tech/Fly Racing RM-Z. Russell actually had the lead when he grabbed the $250 All Balls Racing XC1 Pro Holeshot Award, but he went down a few turns later. He gathered himself up and made his way back up through the pack for third.
Fourth went to Steward Baylor Jr. (KTM) and fifth to Jordan Ashburn (KTM).
JCR Honda’s Trevor Bollinger got back to his winning ways and won the XC2 Pro Lites class ahead of Layne Michael (Husqvarna) and Josh Toth (Yamaha).
Bollinger continues to enjoy a comfortable lead in the championship with 276 points to Craig Delong’s 233. Delong took sixth on the day.
Fly Racing/Maxxis/Seat Concepts/Yamaha’s Becca Sheets won the Women’s class and locked up the WXC National Championship.
