Costa Mesa, CA (September 9, 2016) – The Dainese Group unveiled its new head-to-toe safety system for motorcycle racing to MotoGP professionals and international press during an event held last night near the site of this weekend’s MotoGP round at Italy’s Misano World Circuit.
The new system includes the AGV Pista GP R helmet and the Dainese Mugello R D-air® racing suit. Developed with the invaluable contribution of Valentino Rossi, the outfit introduces several state-of-the-art technologies and innovations conceived by the Dainese Science and Research Center.
The Pista GP R is the evolution of AGV’s groundbreaking Pista GP, and is an ideal combination of protection, performance and comfort, the three key pillars of the AGV Extreme Standards development protocol. The helmet offers an increased field of vision through the introduction of Race 3 Max Pinlock®, a Class 1 Optic visor with 100% Max Vision Pinlock (120) and is characterized by a new, patented Visor Lock System (VLS). Aerodynamic performance has been improved thanks to the new wind-tunnel-tested Biplano rear spoiler, while comfort benefits from a patented interior structure and an Integrated Ventilation System (IVS). The Pista GP R is the first helmet to include a hydration system, featuring internal channels and a drinking valve placed inside the chin area.
The new Mugello R D-air racing suit represents Dainese’s state-of-the-art safety technology, introducing over 25 new features and several pioneering innovations leading to five new patents. The D-air platform has been implemented to extend the area covered by the airbag: from the neck, shoulders and collarbones, to the lower sides of the rib cage.
The suit features a redesigned and seamless-integrated LED interface and a patented Intelligent Emergency Lighting System directly triggered by the sophisticated D-air algorithm. Mugello R D-air offers enhanced comfort and protection thanks to the application of an adaptive knee construction and such innovative constructive solutions as high-performance pre-curved engineered textiles and tri-axial elastics. The elbow construction has also been reengineered, introducing an optimized slider shape and a quick-release system.
“The AGV Pista GP R and the Dainese Mugello R D-air, our new head-to-toe safety system for motorcycle racing, represent yet another milestone in safety technology,” stated Cristiano Silei, Dainese Group CEO. “The Dainese Group confirms its total commitment to safety, fueled by the knowhow of the Dainese Science and Research Center and supported by continuous research and development efforts with its athletes.”
The AGV Pista GP R, presented in five graphics and two carbon variants, will be available beginning in December 2016. The Dainese Mugello R D-air racing suit, available also through Dainese’s Custom Works program, will be introduced in two color options beginning in April 2017.
