Motocross: Sidi Dominates in Switzerland

(August 8, 2016) – The Swiss debut on the motocross world circuit has been marked by Tony Cairoli (KTM). On the Frauenfeld racetrack, the Sicilian champion took home the Grand Prix for the 15th stage in the 2016 World Championship Series, beating his rivals Tim Gajser and Romain Febvre.

This might have been a bit of an unfortunate season for him, but Tony Cairoli is always a force to be reckoned with, and when he has a good day, no one can stop him. There couldn’t have been a better occasion for Cairoli to make it back to the highest step on the podium, wearing his ever reliable Sidi Crossfire2 boots, of course.
In Switzerland Cairoli entertained the crowd and himself as he won the event in his customary way, taking on the two stars of the current season in a beautiful head-to-head. In race one, Tony won by staying in command from the first lap to the last. Race two was a little more unlucky, but Tony eked out a fifth place that was enough to win him the race with a 4-point advantage over Gajser.
Max Anstie
Sidi was also a major player in the MX2, with their two champions pulling off another fantastic double, just like in Belgium: Max Anstie (Husqvarna) came in first and Jeremy Seewer (Suzuki) was second. Of course, as the hometown favorite, Seewer really wanted to win in his native Switzerland, since he is still in the running for the World title while Jeff Herlings remains on the side-lines recovering from an injury. However, right now Britain’s Anstie really seems to be unstoppable. Now the MX2 world rankings show Herlings hanging on to his lead with 597 points, but Seewer is just 43 points behind him at 554.
