Scott Sports Prospect Goggle
Cycle News Staff | July 28, 2016
Scott has been one of the pioneers of motorcycle goggles since they entered the market in 1970. The company started out by producing the first tapered aluminum ski poles in 1958 and has been an innovator in several active sports categories including bicycles. In fact, Scott bicycles have won world Championships in both road and mountain biking in recent years.
The new Prospect goggle is the first major new product for the motorcycle category in a few years and aimed to address the evolving market that includes more powerful motorcycles and apply new technologies. The completely new product includes a long list of improvements including:
- Wider field of vision.
- 1 millimeter thick lens, up from the typical .8 millimeter.
- Improved lens retention system designed to stand up to bigger impacts from debris.
- Articulating strap outriggers to allow the goggle to fit properly against the riders face in more helmets.
- Thermoformed Face Foam designed to channel sweat away from your face.
- Wider strap to keep the goggle better planted on the helmet.
- There is also a new Works Film System (WFS) that has a much larger 50 millimeter film versus the previous 31.75 millimeters (nearly 2 inches versus the previous 1.25 inches).
Like past Scott goggles, the lens includes an anti-fog coating, which has proven to be among the best in the market. The goggles are manufactured in the United States (Utah to be exact).
Suggested Retail:
- $89.99 for the standard Prospect goggle, which comes standard with a Chrome lens as well as a clear lens, Microfiber goggle bag and Noseguard.
- $99.99 for the version that includes the Works Film System.
- Separate Works Film System: $39.99.
