Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha rider Cameron Beaubier took a hard-fought victory in race one of the MotoAmerica program at Laguna Seca today, riding a clever race that saw him take the lead from teammate Josh Hayes with two laps to go.
The current MotoAmerica Superbike champion eventually pulled a 0.3 second gap at the flag to second placed Toni Elias (Yoshimura Suzuki), with Hayes losing second to a very late braking Elias at turn two on the final lap to eventually finish third.
Danny Eslick (TOBC Racing) came through a frantic seven rider battle to take a popular win in the Superstock 1000 class, with second placed Claudio Corti (HSBK Aprilia) and third placed Josh Herrin (Meen Motorsport Yamaha) exchanging words in the pitlane following the race.
Race two for MotoAmerica starts at 3:45pm local Monterey time.
