In this week’s Throwback we go back the September of 1981. “Endless Love” by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie, “Slow Hand” by The Pointer Sisters and “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” by Stevie Nicks (with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) topped the charts the week this photo was taken at Seattle International Raceway, in Kent, Washington, 35 years ago. This shot shows Freddie Spencer pouring champagne on the head of winner Eddie Lawson with Wes Cooley looking on. These were the three top players in that year’s AMA Superbike Championship with Kawasaki, Honda and Suzuki battling it out for the coveted title. Lawson and Kawasaki went on to clinch the championship that year over Spencer and Cooley.
