Television Coverage Announced for 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship

Morgantown, WV (May 18, 2016) With the days counting down toward the start of the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, MX Sports Pro Racing and NBC Sports Group unveiled the impressive summer television schedule for the upcoming season of the world’s most prestigious off-road motorcycle racing championship. More than 60 hours of coverage will be featured on NBC, NBCSN, and MAVTV throughout the 12 round championship, highlighted by nearly 40 hours of LIVE coverage and three hour-long showcases on network television via NBC.
The premiere broadcast of the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship from the GoPro Hangtown Motocross Classic in Sacramento, California, will kick off with LIVE coverage on MAVTV, beginning at 4:00 p.m. ET / 1:00 p.m. PT.
In addition to the extensive broadcast schedule, ProMotocross.com will stream all 12 rounds of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship and provide exclusive coverage of practices and a Live Pre-Race Show “The Starting Gate” (all only available on digital) that provides behind the scenes access to the races. All content will be streamed LIVE on ProMotocross.com and NBC Sports Live Extra (available at iTunes App Store and Android App Store). Fans across the country can watch the action unfold in all 24 motos of the championship as it happens through the convenience of a cell phone, tablet, laptop, computer, or streaming device (Apple TV, Roku).
For the eighth consecutive season, NBC will carry three rounds of the championship LIVE, bringing the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship into millions of homes. The Red Bull High Point National (June 18), Red Bull Tennessee National (June 25), and the anticipated return of the Red Bull Southwick National (July 9) will each feature an hour-long LIVE broadcast of the final 450 Class moto.
MAVTV will serve as the home of the opening motos for both the 450 Class and 250 Class all season long, showcasing a LIVE two-hour block of coverage to kick off each round of the championship. NBCSN will carry coverage of the second motos for the 450 Class, and will serve as the permanent home of second moto coverage of the 250 Class throughout the season. NBCSN will feature 10 hours of LIVE coverage as well as highlight shows for each round of the championship. Additionally, a special midseason recap show and season-ending recap shows for both the 450 Class and 250 Class results in a total of 36 hours of coverage on NBCSN of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.
The broadcast team for the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will once again feature Jason Weigandt as host, handling play-by-play duties during the races, with former Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Champion Grant Langston serving as the color analyst alongside Weigandt in the booth. Trackside correspondent Georgia Lindsay returns as well, bringing viewers inside information and the latest breaking news from the pits.
The 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will kick off on Saturday, May 21, with the GoPro Hangtown Motocross Classic from Prairie City SVRA in Sacramento, California. The fastest riders on the planet and the world’s most prestigious off-road motorcycle championship will continue its 44th season by visiting the country’s most iconic facilities before crowning a pair of champions from Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on August 27.
