MotoGP: Marquez Dominates COTA Qualifying

Marc Marquez produced a stunning 2:03.188 lap to take pole position for tomorrow’s Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, TX.
The Repsol Honda rider, undefeated in three previous outings in Austin, slammed home the time with eight minutes remaining and almost topped it on his final flying lap to finish ahead of Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo and his teammate Valentino Rossi, in what has been a turnaround of fortunes for the Yamaha team at a circuit they have traditionally struggled at.
Fourth on the grid went to the factory Ducati of Andrea Iannone as he bids to score his first championship points following two race crashes from two starts in 2016. He leads Ecstar Suzuki’s Maverick Vinales, LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow, Ducati Team’s Andrea Dovizioso, Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa, Ecstar Suzuki’s Aleix Espargaro and Pramac Ducati’s Scott Redding.
