It was Ducati’s Andrea Iannone who came through to top Friday’s MotoGP practice session under the floodlights at the Losail Circuit in Qatar.
Iannone pushed his factory Ducati to a time of 1:54.639 late in the session to secure the top time. Yamaha’s defending MotoGP champ Jorge Lorenzo (1:54.776) and Marc Marquez (1:54.835) on the factory Honda rounded out the top three.
It was a good session for Ducati overall, as Iannone’s teammate Andrea Dovizioso finished fourth on the day. Maverick Viñales continued his excellent performance on the Suzuki rounding out the top five and putting four different manufacturers inside the top five.
Qualifying will take place Saturday and then the first round of the 2016 MotoGP season will kick off Sunday with television coverage on Bein Sports starting at 1:00 pm Eastern.
