The Legends and Heroes 2016 Supercross Moto Museum Tour returns for its seventh year joining the Monster Energy Supercross series opener at Angel Stadium of Anaheim January 9. Kicking off this season opener will be Micky Dymond, a three-time AMA National MX Champion. He will be honored in the paddock during the Anaheim 1 Supercross, where you will get a chance to meet the former factory Honda and Yamaha racer.
Micky Dymond, a three-time AMA National Champion and a member of the highly regarded Team Honda powerhouse in the 1980s was a racer to watch. But it did not come easy for Dymond-he worked his way up through the ever competitive southern California motocross scene, racing at places like Indian Dunes and Saddleback and riding brands like Maico and Husqvarna. Once he signed with factory Honda for the 1986 season and went on to win back-to-back AMA 125 National Motocross Championships, he had made it big in the pro ranks.
Dymond was also one of the most stylish riders of the ’80s. After his two national championship wins he continued to compete on two wheels through the early 90s. Micky’s last serious year of racing (before discovering Supermoto in ’03) was in 1992. He remained active in the motorcycle industry, helping support events by providing course-building materials and offering technical assistance for many of the early freestyle events. Dymond also continued to participate in select races, winning titles both in ’05 AMA Supermoto and at the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb.
Today he is very active in the bicycling industry. Micky Dymond is active in the “Race Across America,” a four-man team bicycle race (literally, a race across America), which he and his team won in 2014.
Micky Dymond will be at the Legends and Heroes Moto Museum display this Saturday afternoon in the pits at Anaheim 1 Supercross for a meet and greet with the fans. He will be presented the coveted Legends and Heroes Award by Broc Glover of Dunlop Tires on the Monster Energy Supercross Podium Saturday evening.
