The Colin Edwards Texas Tornado Boot Camp’s (TTBC) popular Dirt Wars and Mad Dog racing series’ are back for 2016. This is the third year the camp has run the respective championships, designed for little Yamaha TT-R125s that bring seriously close racing under lights at the Texas Edwards ranch.
If you want to get in on the action, the TTBC is offering early registration for both the Dirt Wars and Mad Dog championships. The Mad Dog National is fast becoming a staple for some of the best racers in the country, with riders like two-time Daytona 200 champion Danny Eslick and two-time AMA Grand National Champion Jake Johnson fronting the grid.
“I can’t wait for the new season of racing,” says TTBC Lead Instructor Joe Prussiano. “We’re going into our third year with Dirt Wars and I am really pleased at how our races have grown and evolved. I’m looking forward to seeing how our Mad Dog races turn out this year.”
The man who’s name is on the door, Colin Edwards, will have a bigger presence at the events this year as he’s just completed building a TT-R125 Mad Dog racer of his own, ensuing there’ll be plenty competitive spirit flying around the ranch just outside of Houston.
“I’m so looking forward to our Dirt Wars/Mad Dog events at the Boot Camp in 2016,” said Colin. “I finally competed in the last event we had in 2015 and I’m hooked! I just completed a Mad Dog build of my own, so bring it on, folks!”
For those not familiar with Dirt Wars, it’s a one-night race under the lights. Riders compete on equally-prepped Yamaha TTR-125 machines, and the event includes heat races, LCQ’s and Main Events. Dirt Wars, along with the Mad Dog classes, will feature a format which splits amateurs and professionals, with purse money paid to the Pro divisions. The Dirt Wars and Mad Dog specific races also include classes for women and children.
