Day two of racing got underway just after the morning sight lap. We had an action packed day of heat races, followed by the consolation races to end the day. First-time winners, streaks stopped, familiar faces, and statements being made all going down here at Mini O’s in Florida.
First moto of the morning was the 450 B Limited class, and Florida rider Austin Winslow would bring home the win on his 250 two-stroke. Wilson Flemming and Gavin Wilkins tried to make a run at Winslow, but would have to settle for second and third, respectively. Division two was all Dylan Walsh. Walsh rode a flawless race onboard his KTM and was able to top Justin Boyd and Nolan Heppner who fought to the finish for the number-two spot with Boyd edging him out.
Austin Winslow won the 450 B class on his two-stroke Yamaha.
Ty Masterpool pulled the holeshot in the Mini Sr. (12-15) Limited class and would hold off Max Miller for the win. The two riders were never separated by more than three bike lengths the entire moto, possibly one of the best battles we have seen so far. Miller would turn the fastest lap by just two-10ths of a second as the two battled their way away from third-place finisher Nathanel Thrasher. We hope to see these two riders get up front in the main and continue this battle.
When the 450 Pro class lined up, 90 percent of the fans had their money on Austin Forkner. Forkner had grabbed every holeshot and looked impressive in his three moto wins thus far. Rounding the first corner, the number-961 Yamaha of Bradley Taft would be the first across the line. Cameron McAdoo and Tristan Lane followed Taft on the first lap. McAdoo kept Taft honest for the seven-lap heat race, while Forkner made his way by Lane to take the third spot but wasn’t able to get the leaders. Congrats to Taft for the hard earned moto win.
Max Miller gave Ty Masterpool a good race in the Mini Sr. race.
The 50cc class has been wide open this week. Today was no different when the gate dropped in the 51 (4-8) limited class. Division 1 had a three-way battle for the lead the entire moto. Daxton Bennick would lead every lap, but he had company from Casey Cochran all moto. Cochran was feeling the heat from Jordan Torres from lap one until the last lap when he was able to make the move on Cochran for second.
Haiden Deegan would win division two. Deegan opened up a two-second lead early on and looked to cruise to the finish. Owen Covell ran a solid second and Kason Little would charge from just outside the top five to take the final podium spot.
At Mini O’s, Collegeboy (16-24) allows A riders, it’s one of the few events that does. And today, we saw Justin Cooper lead from start to finish, followed by Jake Masterpool, who had a great battle with Florida rider Tristan Lane. Masterpool, on his 250F, was doing all he could to get by, but Lane was able to answer back every time, until his last-lap pass to snag the second-place finish.
The 250 B class had the fences lined with spectators, and for good reason, it is one of the most stacked classes. There is so much talent in the B class that it’s hard to pick a winner. In division 1, Ashton Dickinson grabbed the holeshot. Garrett Marchbanks and Wilson Flemming followed him across the line on lap one. Marchbanks would make his move for the lead on lap two and check out. The surprise ride was turned in by Joey Crown. Crown came from around the 10th spot on the start to finish third behind Dickinson.
Division 2 was a four-way battle from start to finish. Dylan Walsh grabbed the holeshot followed by Challen Tennant and Enzo Lopes. The three of them would battle for three laps and be joined by Jordan Bailey, as well. Just past the halfway point, Tennant would make the move to the lead. Lopes, Walsh, and Bailey would swap positions multiple times. At the finish, it was Tennant with the win, Walsh second, and Bailey would grab the third spot.
Tomorrow we start crowning supercross champions.
