FIRST LOOK: Yamaha XSR900

Hot on the heels of the release of the new MT-10, Yamaha has dug a little further into its history repertoire for 2016, giving the Roland Sands-inspired XSR900 the green production light.
It’s basically an FZ-09, with the same 850cc crossplane crank three-cylinder engine, suspension and brake package. What’s different is the retro-styled tank, round headlight and seat unit, in the same guise as the XSR700.
Below are two videos, one from Yamaha USA and a slightly more entertaining one featuring Sands and Kenny Roberts, that gives you an idea of where Yamaha’s thinking lay with the creation of the XSR900.
